I. Need. A. Mint. Intervention. Like whoa! Honestly, it’s getting redic. Not to mention a few minty J.Crew pieces that are on their way to me right now as I type this precious little post!
I mean I even bought this adorable plastic mason jar cup with matching mint straw. I’m telling you, I need help! Notice the nail polish color? I rest my case.
But if loving mint is wrong then I don’t wanna be right! I purchased these amazingly comfortable and versatile mint and nude BCBG wedges last year from TJ Maxx and today was day one of wearing them in 2014! I hope to find them in other colors this season so please let me know if you happen to spot them (I’m a size 5.5 or 6!) Another piece I was pumped to break out of the closet is this mint/navy/white floral clutch that I purchased last year at Target on major sale! It’s a great size because it allows me to carry more than just a cell phone and gum (I hate those small bags!) and it has a light tan ‘leather’ zipper which, if I may mention, coordinates wonderfully with my shoes. Don’t you just love it when that happens by-chance!
And I couldn’t stop there. Oh no. I threw on my new favorite accessory; this Ann Taylor mint and blue tassel scarf that has the most lovely print. I then opted for a casual blue brocade J.Crew tee and my go-to billowy-sleeved sweater. And we can’t forget the miracle pants! If you ever stumble upon Royalty by YMI Skinny Hyperstretch Pant, get them in every color and maybe even get two of each! I cannot speak more highly of these amazing pants. They are high-waisted and not extremely long (bonus for all of my fellow short gals out there) and have a wonderful stretch. I have them in black and a dark olive green (as seen here today) and I am totally kicking myself for not getting them in other colors when I had the chance!
And look what is hiding underneath my scarf? This gorgeous and very blingtastic necklace from Mindy Mae’s Market!
Thanks for stopping by and Happy Friday Eve!

Hello ladies and Happy Monday! What’s happy about a Monday? Well, particularly nothing, but it is another day that we all get to rise and shine, be thankful for the good things and make the day our B! But why, oh why does the weekend have to fly by?! OH and I had to get my oil changed first thing this morning; apparently running on 2% oil life is frowned upon! Not to mention that it was only twenty-some degrees this morning; no bueno! Doesn’t mother nature know that it is officially Spring, which calls for open-toed shoes and time to ditch the tights??? Apparently not. So I had to incorporate some bright and cheery hues into my layered wardrobe to account for the chilly commute this morning!
First, let me start by saying that if you do not own a wool, fully lined pencil skirt; get one. Seriously, they are a must! I have them in a variety of colors and they are perfect for those cold, Fall and Winter (and apparently Spring) days. They keep me toasty warm all day; and not mention, they are super flattering and wear very well, leaving minimal wrinklage (yes I know that’s not a word)!
So for today’s look, I paired this bright yellow skirt with a classic navy and white gingham button-down. Okay, I’m going to point out the obvious, but I LOVE gingham! I’m pretty sure I have one in every color. With such versatility and variety; they are a working gal’s dream!
Side note, I am having a tassel-obsessed moment and these Cathryn Ann Designs suede leather tassel bracelets are EVERYTHING. She was so sweet and kind to send them my way and I just love the colors she chose! Many more pictures to come, I assure you!
Okay, back to the topic at-hand! Throw on a gorgeous J. Crew statement necklace, those leopard booties that I literally wear every-other day, and my all-time favorite pink and camel Kate Spade satchel = Monday isn’t so bad friends!
As I have shared with you in previous posts, over the past six months or so I have begun to edit my wardrobe and really slim it down! I have gotten rid of tons and tons of items; most were brand new or practically brand new! And it really made me think and reflect upon my shopping habits and purchases. This also goes back to my quest to have fewer, better things. I’ve got the ‘better things’ concept down, it’s just that other part of ‘fewer’ that I am having trouble with! Anywho, with all that being said, I feel that I finally have a solid wardrobe with pieces that be constantly mixed and matched and can be worn with everything! I did not purchase any of the pieces I am wearing today at the same time, but they somehow work perfectly together! And I think it is because I have been really trying to think about where my moolah is going (how long will I own it? What do I already own that I can wear it with? Is it good quality? etc etc.) Which leaves me with solid, wardrobe essentials that can be worn a hundred times over and I still can find fresh and new ways to wear them!
What pieces do you consider to be wardrobe staples? And how do you shop? (sale, investment, etc?) I would love to know!
Thanks for stopping by and Cheers to a speedy work-week!

Hello and Happy Sunday Galpals! It is no secret that I am a lover of all things Kate Spade and her handbags can do no wrong! Pink and camel, check! Kelly green and a gold bow, check! Mint and black, check! A gorgeous robin’s egg blue satchel? I just could not pull the trigger, despite how badly I wanted to! And thank goodness I listened to my head, instead of my heart (for once!), because the very next day, I saw this blue beauty staring me in the face on our trusty IG! And to my surprise, and much delight, I found out that it was from Target and a mere $39.99! I was over the moon, and a bit shocked, that Target delivered an awesome KS dupe and it is a great quality bag. The structure is spot-on AND paired with the brilliant blue hue; it is the perfect spring accessory that you do not have to feel guilty about!
Peplum, Please! The structure of a peplum top has magical figure-flattering capabilities and adds instant sophistication to any ensemble. They truly are perfect for any occasion! They can be dressed up with a fabulous belt and stunning jewels, but can be easily dressed-down with a pair of distressed boyfriend jeans, leopard pumps and a cropped moto jacket! And then you add gorgeous floral patterns and beautiful pastel hues = my Heart’s desire!
Mad for Mint? Why yes I am! For the past two Spring seasons, I have been slowly adding minty blue items to my wardrobe and as it turns out, I have quite the collection! With a great pair of mint wedges as no exception. I purchased the most awesome (and super comfy, bonus!) pair of nude and mint BCBG wedges last May from TJ Maxx and I wear them All.The.Time. They go with me to work, happy hour with the girls, date night with ma boo, weddings and many other places; and they are always a hit! You can check them out on the ole IG. But unfortunately I could not find them online to link in this post, so I chose two other fabulous options that I think you ladies will really love!
Kimo No? Kimono you betcha! After seeing my uber stylish friend, Kate from For the Love of Fancy Blog sporting this gorgeous watercolor kimono, I knew I had to make it mine! Impulse buy? Guilty. Under $20? Semi-acceptable! I have never owned a kimono but was eager to try the look after seeing Kate making it look so effortlessly cool! We all know how much I love color, so this piece is definitely in my wheelhouse and I have BIG plans for it! You know those elusive Jcrew Mari sandals in Shocking Pink? After weeks of hunting them down last year, I finally got my hands on them and I think they will be the perfect match for this beautiful floral kimono!
CONFESSION: I am a shoe and purse gal. There is no denying it and I simply cannot help it. I blame it on my Grandma Sabaliauskas. I look just like her, get my tiny feet from her, and also was blessed/cursed with her love of shopping. But, due to a little thing called a budget, I have had to learn how to be a savvy shopper! And that is the name of my game; Sara’s Passion for Savvy Fashion. So true to form, I had to do my first ‘Splurge vs. Save’ and I hope you found it to be helpful and fun!
Cheers to Springtime goodness!
Hello and Happy Saturday friends! Today marks Tony and I’s six year anniversary! Where does the time go? Honestly, we were just babies when we started dating: me at 22 and him at 25. Our love bloomed on St. Patrick’s Day, which is why I love to celebrate that holiday now, as it marks the beginning of our relationship and kicks off anniversary week! Yes, just like birthdays, I like to celebrate everything for at a least a week!
And just a month after we began dating, Tony took off to report for minor league baseball down in Southern Illinois! If you had asked me if I thought we would make it long-distance for almost six months, the answer would have been heck no! I thought to myself, if it works out, great. And if not, no biggie! Well, needless to say, it worked out and here we are! That first baseball season was a bit easier to get through because it was so fresh and new and not many expectations; kinda just going with the flow! Second baseball season apart in 2009…. totally different story! We had been together at this point now for over a year and had just moved into our first apartment together and then poof, he left me! That was one of the biggest tests that we had faced up until that point. And being young (and quite dumb and immature); jealousy and insecurity was ever-so-present on my part and I was probably pretty nuts. It is a miracle we made it through that season; and that he put up with me!
But once he returned home and retired after the 2009 season, all was well 🙂 We rescued and adopted our youngest shihtzu pup, Roger, in December of 2009 and he was our Christmas angel! We lived in our apartment until July 2010 when we then moved into our house where we have been ever since! It is pretty cool to reminisce on all of our memories and moments shared with one another. Tony has seen me graduate twice; once with my Bachelor’s and once with my Master’s Degree. We survived two baseball seasons of long-distance and I think I visited him at least eight times! PS, I once drove the nine hours to see him and needless to say, I never did that again! I made him fly me down to St. Louis if he wanted to see me! We have lost loved ones and have been through the most heart-wrenching moments, but also have had the pleasure of celebrating new life and relationships with our dearest friends. Two dogs, two apartments, one house, four cars, four jobs, starting of a business, three trips to Mexico, two trips to Kansas City, one trip to New York, twelve birthdays, and one trip to look at engagement rings! But I’m still his GFF (Girlfriend For Forever) and he my Manfriend (he’s too old to be my boyfriend! He’s a man!)
I cannot even begin to express with words how blessed and thankful I am to have Tone as my best friend. He is my biggest supporter in all of my endeavors. Working just two days a week and not making much money through Grad school so I could get done quick? Sure babe, let’s do it! I think I really want to start a blog? You got this babe! I apply and interview for countless jobs but yet still no luck on landing another one… It’s okay babe, the right one will come along. Keep working hard! He truly is my angel and I thank God everyday for gracing me with this man. He is going to be an amazing husband (he practically already is) and a great dad and I am so excited to see what our future holds!
Cheers to six amazing years with this man and to this life filled with love!
Hey dears and Happy Humpday! Okay… so yes, this did happen. Well-played J.Crew, well-played. The melon and mint colors are brilliant and bright and they are sure to enhance my spring and summer attire!
Farewell and good-bye to new items as I am dedicating myself to a no-shopping ban until May 1st! Things can get out of control when perusing the J.Crew website and clearly I was weak and pathetic! It is my plan to go every other month without purchasing anything I can wear on my body. I need to walk-the-walk and not just talk-the-talk and hold true to my personal goal to have fewer, better things and be content with what I already have! So consider this another #closetremixchallenge and wish me luck. I’ve unsubscribed from all emails (Kate Spade, J.Crew, Old Navy, Gap, Loft, etc) and have stopped searching IG for closets to shop. I simply do not need anything. There are many, many people who do so much more with much less. I do not want to be consumed with wants, wanting, etc. and I need to learn the power that comes with saying NO! Does anyone else have a hard time saying no and not getting enthralled in the IG and online excitement that are sales and steals from our favorite stores?
In my defense, I only spent $53.00 while shopping in NYC… just stating the facts!
Speaking of mint, I wore this little number today to work! All winter I have been staring into my closet and eyeing this pair of Jcrew mint denim and I could not wait one more day to wear them! 50 and sunny is a darn good excuse and I did not hesitate. Plus, tomorrow is the first day of Spring, heyooo!
I purchased this Ann Taylor Loft mint and blue tassel scarf from my closet. Yes, you read that right! My fabulous friend, Jenn, and I sell our gently used and sometimes brand new clothes, shoes, and accessories through our IG closet! So Jenn sends me her items via email and I list them in the closet. But once I opened that attachment and saw this gorgeous scarf, I knew it had to be mine and would not be making an appearance in the ole IG closet! The pattern is lovely and the soft, pastel shades are simply sweet and perfect for Spring and the look I am going for.
What to wear with prints and color? Well a chambray shirt, of course! And a polka dotted one at that. I threw on a pair of silver glitter Nine West loafers and opted for a classic cream and tan Coach satchel with white patent leather and silver chain detail and felt instantly polished and perfectly appropriate for a Humpday Work Wednesday!
Cheers to the first official day of Spring!
Hello dears and Happy Tuesday! It feels so good to be back home, even though we had a blast in NYC! (lots of pictures to come!) I had a bunch of posts ready so I could just quickly publish them while I was away, but we were literally going 24/7 and I had zero energy to even get on the iPad! So let me share with you this little post that I had ready to go in honor of heading back to work tomorrow! PS, the weather here in NE is amazing and I am so excited to start wearing spring work-looks everyday!
I don’t know about you all, but I just love when an outfit comes together unexpectedly and you find yourself thinking; what did I do before I owned these items? Well that is exactly what I asked myself in regards to these flats! If you are not familiar with the Jcrew Factory Emery Bow Flats; please run, don’t walk, to your nearest location or computer and order yourself a pair pronto stat! I have bought countless pairs of flats that were oh so cute and majorly on-sale but would kill my feet after just a few short hours of wear. Which then results in me admiring them from a far as they sit and collect dust and eventually make their way into my IG closet where they will go to a loving home! So, I decided to take a gamble and throw a little investment money ($44 on sale) into a pair of shoes and I am so glad I did because I wear these bow beauties non-stop!
For this look, I was itching for some spring hues but needed layers to stay warm (no sign of warm weather here in Nebraska just yet!) so I went with these bright coral cords, anchor-printed chambray and a leopard cardi (all from Old Navy and all purchased on sale)! To tie it all together, I opted for this gorgeous Stella & Dot Carmen necklace, my go-to Phillip Lim for Target bag and, of course, these versatile bow flats!
Here are the other ways I have styled these feet-friendly shoes!
Thanks for stopping by my dears!
Hello loves and Happy Tuesday! I can’t believe the time has finally arrived for Tony and I to make our way to New York! Tony used to play for the Staten Island Yankees so he will be my personal tour guide and I simply cannot contain my excitement! We are going to visit his old stadium, do lots of shopping and take in all the sites!
I titled this post ‘BlueJay Love’ because Tony and I are huge Creighton Bluejay Basketball fans and never miss a game! Well, I had to miss two last year because of Graduate School, but it was for a good cause 😉 And, if you didn’t know, our Jays are pretty damn good this year and have the National Player of the Year, Doug McDermott, on the team! This has been such a fun and exciting season and it’s been awesome to witness history in-the-making; Doug hit his 3,000th point during the last home game and beat his career-high points scored during one game! We have been talking about making a trip out to NYC for six years now, and when we learned that the Jays were moving to the Big East, we had a pretty good idea that this was just the perfect time to plan a trip! So we, along with 2,000 other fans, are following them all the way to Madison Square Garden to witness some post-season magic and enjoy The Big East tourney! I’m sure I am not the only gal who loves some college ball and I can’t get enough of March hoops!
I will be sure to share all the highlights and ensembles of our trip when we return, because I am most certain that this experience and City will leave me with so much to discuss!
Thanks so much for stopping by and Roll Jays!!!
Hello loves and Happy Monday! This candy-colored goodness of an outfit was a must on this gorgeous 75 degree sunny day! I had to sneak in as much color as I could because the weather is taking a turn to the chilly side tomorrow and then on Wednesday, Tony and I are headed to NYC where it is also chilly and gray!
This outfit was centered and assembled around this gorgeous bright blue bag that I got for an amazing price-point at Target! I knew I had to bust this baby out before we head off for vacay (I don’t want to get it dirty so it’s staying home lol!) and today’s warm temps most definitely called for some yummy, cheery goodness! Bag, check. Amazing printed scarf, check. Neon pink pants, check. Yep, I think yet again I was a stand-out at work! Add a bow-adorned shoe and voila = perfectly punchy and polished!
This ensemble definitely put a pep in my step! If you have not yet discovered the Broken-in Khakis by Gap, do it, NOW! I have these pants in three more colors and they are the perfect work pant for Spring/Summer/Fall! I would suggest sizing down as they have more of a boyfriend fit to them. The cream blouse is from Old Navy and I wear it constantly because it is so versatile. I should have stocked-up and gotten more when I had the chance! What’s the one color in my wardrobe that I have a lot of? White/Cream tops. They literally go with everything. It can be dressed up or down, and transition flawlessly from fall/winter to spring/summer! What are the key pieces that you ladies stock-up on and are your go-to’s?
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you had a great day!
